Lillian Perkins Morse Scholarship 2006

The Waynesboro Players are pleased to announce that this year's winner of the Lillian Perkins Morse Scholarship is Kimberly Maurice. The scholarship is in honor of the late Lillian Morse, who was an advocate for the performing arts across the state and very active with the Waynesboro Players. Lillian was particularly interested in making theatre accessible to young people, and in her memory the scholarship is awarded to a local high-school senior who plans to continue his or her education in an area of the performing arts.

Kimberly Maurice, this year's recipient, recently graduated as salutatorian of her Riverheads High School senior class. She has many accolades to her credit, has received several awards for drama, and has been responsible for creating many theatre productions at her high school and increasing interest and involvement with the performing arts among fellow students. Kimberly has also been a student in the Theatre Dept. at Shenandoah Valley Governor's School for several years and received numerous awards including the Theatre Achievement Award. She has also been involved in the theatre community, having worked with the American Shakespeare Center at Blackfriars Playhouse and also with many theatre groups in the Charlottesville area.

Kimberly's teachers describe her as a talented, conscientious, and dedicated young lady with a work ethic, character, and integrity as extraordinary for someone her age. She will be attending college this fall, pursuing her interest in acting, directing, and filmmaking.

Lillian would have been proud of Kimberly's accomplishments and excited to encourage this remarkable young lady to pursue her dream in the performing arts. The Waynesboro Players are pleased and proud to award the Lillian Perkins Morse Scholarship to such a caring and deserving young lady.
