We have a problem!

With auditions complete and the final touches being made to complete the
crew the Waynesboro Players are again hard at work preparing for their
second production "Pierre and Marie." Auditions we held in November,
the cast started rehearsing and blocking in December, then took a few
weeks off to enjoy the holiday and to give the set crew time to bring to
life the images that the set designer Malone Moss had created. The set
crew consisting of Jack and Malone Moss, their grandson Ben, Noreen
Stitso, and Craig Cavanaugh went to work making the late 1800's
basement that the Curies worked out of as their lab. The set was
completed within a couple of weeks with finishing touches going on
regularly until show time!
The
cast consisting of Bill Martin as "Pierre Curie", Wendy Osinkosky as
"Marie Curie", Mathew Coiner as "Gustave Bemont", Clair Myers as
"Chevrier," and Amy Barden as "Georgette". Resumed rehearsals in
mid-January and have been hard at work ever since. To make this
production even more exciting is the collaboration with the Players and
the American Cancer Society to make this production a "Relay for Life"
Fund Raising Benefit Event with a dollar of all tickets sold going to
the American Cancer Society and their fight against cancer.
With
a cast of only five, four new faces will grace the stage on this
performance. Each having previous theatre experience, but new to the
Players. Ironically the lead role of Marie Curie is being played by the
local district director of the American Cancer Society, and along with
her Polish background, and college acting experience, she is the
perfect Marie. Bill Martin had a small role in "Jesus Christ
Superstar", but for the most part has done most of his acting at
Shenan-Arts, Clair Myers having a PhD in theatre and is currently
working with the Wayne Theatre Alliance, Amy Barden having just wrapped
up PVCC's "The Night of January 16th", and has done stage managing for
the Players "Goodbye Charlie" and the lights for "Seussical", and lastly
Mathew Coiner who has done several performances with the Players
including "Taking Stock", "Grease", "Dial M for Murder", and most
recently "Anything Goes", along with several productions at Oak Grove.
Although the Waynesboro Players 2005-2006 season is
being dedicated to the late Fletcher Collins, this production is being
dedicated to the late Lillian Morse who was a long time member of the
Waynesboro Players and one time Board President who passed away several
years after losing her battle with cancer. Because of this, and the
many hearts she touched within the Players and the community it only
seems fitting.
Enjoy the show that "radiates" with laughs and romance,
and give to a good cause.
