A note from our President and Board of Directors
Greetings from the Waynesboro Players!
Our 55th season officially closed May 13, 2018 with our production of The Addams Family. I want to take a few moments to recap our season and make a few announcements.
First, we cannot possibly do what we do without the many volunteers - actors, crew, and supporters - who give so willingly to the organization. To everyone who bought a ticket, sent a donation, painted a set, loaned a prop, donated a costume, teased a wig, dimmed a light, held a note, sewed a hem, memorized a line, handed a program, or told a friend, we say THANK YOU!
Second, I want to thank my fellow Board of Directors for their hard work. We made some difficult decisions this year that scaled down our season, but ultimately rejuvenated our efforts. Just as pruning helps the shrub, so too did our trimming help us. Look for more updates and changes to come next season.
Third, if you were not in attendance at our Saturday night performance of The Addams Family, you missed the annual awarding of the Lillian Morse Scholarship. Named in memory of our long-time visionary, mentor, and friend, this year's scholarship was awarded to Mia Kyler (Riverheads) and Margot Flanders (Wilson Memorial), with each receiving $500 in order to pursue their college careers. These young people have been very involved with Waynesboro Players for several years and both have outstanding theatrical credits from other organizations as well.
Finally, we hope you will make plans now to continue your support into our 56th season. We are planning three exciting events. Our shows for next season are Twelve Angry Jurors, directed by Stephen Winegard and the classic crowd-pleaser Oliver! The Musical, directed by Justine Mackey. The third event will be a fund-raising event to be detailed at a later date.
Again, thank you for your amazing support this season.
Danny Lee, President
and The Waynesboro Players Team
