Audition Announcement for 12 Angry Jurors

Come out to auditions for Waynesboro Players production of 12 Angry Jurors, adapted by Sherman L. Sergel, and directed by Steve Winegard.

  • When:
Saturday, September 1 from 6 pm
    Sunday, Sept. 2 from 2 pm – 4 pm
  • Where:
Waynesboro Players Warehouse, 722 E. Main Street, Waynesboro

Table reads are Sunday, September 9 at 1 pm and Tuesday, September 11 at 6:30 pm at the Warehouse.

The drama centers around jurors who must unanimously decide the fate of a young man accused of murdering his father and how they come to a verdict.

Casting is for twelve jurors and one guard, diverse cast.

  • Performance dates
Nov. 1 thru Nov 4 at the Waynesboro Golf and Country Club.

What to bring to auditions:

  1. You will audition from the script itself so you do not need a prepared piece.
  2. The Players have audition forms to fill out upon arrival. If you have a theater resume and headshot, bring it, but it is not a necessity. We are a community theater!
  3. Do look at your potential conflicts between September 9 and November 4, 2018 and DO list them on your Players audition information form when you arrive. This helps the director set the rehearsal schedule.
  4. Bring a little patience and a great attitude! This is community theater!

2018 Lillian Perkins Morse Scholarships Awarded

The Lillian Perkins Morse Scholarship
named in memory of our long-time visionary, mentor, and friend.

2018 scholarships were awarded to Mia Kyler (Riverheads) and Margot Flanders (Wilson Memorial), with each receiving $500 in order to pursue their college careers. These young people have been very involved with Waynesboro Players for several years and both have outstanding theatrical credits from other organizations as well.

Lillian would be very pleased to see the passion and talent that Mia and Margot bring to the Performing Arts.

Congratulations!

In March 2002, Waynesboro Players established the Lillian Perkins Morse Scholarship to benefit students who will pursue an interest in the performing arts in higher education. Lillian was a champion of young people and the Players wish to carry on her legacy through this scholarship.

To be considered for this scholarship, candidates should demonstrate:

  • A good academic record
  • A contribution to at least one Waynesboro Players production - onstage, backstage, orchestra, or production team
  • An interest in continuing in the participation of the performing arts or related areas in college or beyond
  • A record of participation in service organizations/activities

2018/2019 News!

A note from our President and Board of Directors

Greetings from the Waynesboro Players!

Our 55th season officially closed May 13, 2018 with our production of The Addams Family. I want to take a few moments to recap our season and make a few announcements.

First, we cannot possibly do what we do without the many volunteers - actors, crew, and supporters - who give so willingly to the organization. To everyone who bought a ticket, sent a donation, painted a set, loaned a prop, donated a costume, teased a wig, dimmed a light, held a note, sewed a hem, memorized a line, handed a program, or told a friend, we say THANK YOU!

Second, I want to thank my fellow Board of Directors for their hard work. We made some difficult decisions this year that scaled down our season, but ultimately rejuvenated our efforts. Just as pruning helps the shrub, so too did our trimming help us. Look for more updates and changes to come next season.

Third, if you were not in attendance at our Saturday night performance of The Addams Family, you missed the annual awarding of the Lillian Morse Scholarship. Named in memory of our long-time visionary, mentor, and friend, this year's scholarship was awarded to Mia Kyler (Riverheads) and Margot Flanders (Wilson Memorial), with each receiving $500 in order to pursue their college careers. These young people have been very involved with Waynesboro Players for several years and both have outstanding theatrical credits from other organizations as well.

Finally, we hope you will make plans now to continue your support into our 56th season. We are planning three exciting events. Our shows for next season are Twelve Angry Jurors, directed by Stephen Winegard and the classic crowd-pleaser Oliver! The Musical, directed by Justine Mackey. The third event will be a fund-raising event to be detailed at a later date.

Again, thank you for your amazing support this season.
Danny Lee, President
and  The Waynesboro Players Team

PS - Please join us on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the warehouse for a season-ending clean up day.
